We for Yamuna. And you??
The Yamuna is the lifeline of our city but the truth is that what was once a river of life is now a river of death. It is dying a slow death, a hapless victim of our callousness, industrial and domestic waste emanating from the millions that live around it. Untreated discharges have polluted the surface and ground water making it medically unfit for human consumption. We are in fact living on water that comes out of a drain.
As aware citizens, it is up to us to take a stand against this environmental pollution that is slowly killing the very basis of our existence. Turning a blind eye to the problem of the Yamuna and other social problems is taking recourse to escapism. Very few are aware that 80% of our drinking water comes from the river. How many of us have actually seen in its depraved condition? Do we know that the river has practically been declared dead? We continue to remain oblivious to the issue that in fact stands as a vital part of our life support.
We are not willing to stand as passers by. We have committed ourselves to the cause. And you?
No matter who you are and what you do, you are strong enough to start a chain reaction. If you are concerned about our world, then support us with your time and efforts. Be part of our program and help bring about a change.
